Party DJs

DJs of @Rachelove and Nic Platt

We traveled to Antigua Guatemala to be the DJs at Rachel & Nic’s wedding. This was undoubtedly one of our favorite weddings of the year.

Meeting the couple

Ever since we met Rachel and Nic, there was an instant connection. They’re a couple living in Miami, but as described by The New York Times, they’re passionate travelers, having explored places like South Africa, Spain, Italy, Austria, the Bahamas, and Mexico.

Imagining the vast array of experiences, DJs, and music they’ve encountered across these destinations is overwhelming. So, when they reached out to us for their wedding, we were truly honored they chose us.

The Location

For us, Antigua, Guatemala, stands out as a unique yet familiar destination. Our strong connections with local vendors and the community make it feel like a home away from home.

This time around, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Vivianne Brichaux, Ellen DiSorbo, and Stetten Wilson. Their exceptional work left our team in awe; every detail of the wedding was meticulously planned, captured and executed, significantly smoothing our job.

The day before the wedding, we played on a party for all the guests, serving as the perfect icebreaker. Offering a micro music experience prior to the main event is always thrilling; it helps us gauge the audience, build anticipation, and ensure the music the night before complements the main event with a more personalized concept, offering something distinctively different as a big surprise.

Party Highlights

Rachel, known for her fashion influence through her Rachelove channels across social media, was a sight to behold in a dress designed by Monique Lhuillier. It might not seem obvious, but to us DJs, the couple’s attire is a treasure trove of clues about their personalities, helping us craft the a custom musical experience for them. And, as expected, the night turned out to be spectacular.

We managed to throw an incredible party where special effects were not lacking. For the newlyweds, we arranged the availability of CO2 guns so that at some point in the night, they could join us at the bar and get amazing photos. Without realizing it, there was a moment in the party where the dance floor became boundless. We had more than 10 people dancing on top of our DJ booth, alongside us, on the bar, and the decorative fountains that framed the place

The wedding received coverage in Brides magazine, The New York Times, and on Rachelove’s YouTube channel. Our bond with Rachel and Nic went beyond professional, turning into a cherished friendship. We’re confident we’ll cross paths again at another celebration, always holding their wedding dear to our hearts.

After the wedding, our team spent a few extra days in Antigua, Guatemala, not just to enjoy the beauty of the destination, but to scout and meet with potential suppliers and plan for future events.
