The pirate
Mike began downloading mp3 at a young age, and by the time he turned 16, he was already one of the owners and admins of a ¹ well-known P2P/Torrent server in Latin America. With over 900,000 users, the server became Napster’s top competitor in Latam, where there were no laws against sharing music online.
The music hacker
DJs from the internet mp3 trend and the dopest clubs in Mexico City started reaching out to Mike for unique versions, edits, and remixes that were difficult to find. Naturally, he learned how to mix and produce his own tracks to add them to the online well known catalog.
It didn’t take long before the word spread about this secret music hacker, and nightclub owners began contacting him for DJ recommendations or to invite him to perform at their venues
A new DJ
Mike started DJing at a local bar in Zona Esmeralda, but quickly rose to perform at some of the best nightclubs in Mexico City and then as the private talent for owners of those clubs.
#vbmusic started as an secret music studio, curating DJ recommendations and creating remixes for some of Mexico’s most exclusive nightlife venues. Now, 15 years later, we host approximately 200 private events per year, and Mike has performed on numerous stages alongside a diverse array of artists to create the most crazy party concepts you’ll find. “Being a DJ is not about mixing music; it’s more about creating a concept and building a statement.” – Mike
